Yesterday

Yesterday we celebrated the 4th with 9 old, old friends and one new one.

The new one was the girlfriend of the son of one of old friends.

She was lovely.

Before we left I asked her, "have you ever met any of these people before?"

She said, "no".

And I said, "don't hold us against him...."

It is a weird group.

A Ph.D. or two. An Episcopal priest. Two people who work at Yale. Two people in mental health. Retired school teachers and actresses and day car workers.

I love them all, but I can't imagine walking into that, as his girlfriend did, knowing none of us.

We have jokes that go back decades.

J.A. smokes cigarettes in the pool.

All of us are rather bizarre and not at all politically correct.

Not a group to easily know how to fit into.

Bless her for coming. I liked her a lot. Hope to see her again at another of that group's gatherings.

About Me

some ponderings by an aging white man who is an Episcopal priest in Connecticut. Now retired but still working and still wondering what it all means...all of it.
