No Church Sunday

I'm off today. My contract is for 3 Sundays a month. So I'm off today.

I slept late, went grocery shopping early, finished a book and started another, played Solitaire and Hearts on line and now I'm drinking Pinot Grigio (which is the way to spell it though my blogger account underlined both words in red!)

I fix dinner tonight. We'll watch some TV and then off to bed.

Not a bad way to spend a Sunday but I miss the folks at Trinity....

Visit with J.

Bern and I went to visit our friend J. in the care home where he is.

He's been my friend since college and Bern loves him too.

She goes to see him more than I do--I can't stand to see him bedridden and in pain.

He seemed better than he did to our friends who visited him yesterday. They said he wasn't coherent and talkative. But he talked a lot with us and made good sense.

It's still awful to see him like that.

I'll take him communion next week and anoint him for healing.

I pray he can get better.

What is he up to?

"The" president--I write it that way because he is not 'my' president--I wouldn't trust him as far as I can throw him...which is not far!

Shrinking the federal government is one thing--a wrong thing, I believe. But his attack on colleges and universities for teaching things about the reality of our country is another.

I have an M.T.S. from Harvard and I'm so proud they are standing up to him. I hope all the schools do the same.

A judge has halted his de-funding of higher education, but the next time Trump obeys a judge will be the first.

We're only a few months into his presidency, but he is creating chaos in the nation of my birth and the country I love.

God help us.

Please, God, help us....

Warm at last

Today it was in the low 70's. I'm happy again!

We did Bible Study at Trinity. We're going to read the Gnostic Gospels which weren't found until 1945 though they were written in the first three centuries A.D.

They are very interesting and a bit surprising.

I think people will be delighted by them.

We'll see....

Dental niightmare!

Last week I fell. (I'm fall prone, I'm afraid).

Besides some cuts and bruises I busted my lip and loosened one of my front teeth.

The dentist today told me I had to choose: pull it and wear a one tooth dental devise or else try to save it (which didn't think she could.)

Pretty awful choice!

When I get her email I'll have to decide.

Alas and alack....

A Great Easter!

We rented a house in Washington, CT for Easter.

Five bed rooms and bathrooms, a swimming pool and hot tub, a trampoline and play room. Amazing.

Josh and his three teenage kids, Mimi, Tim and Eleanor (who is 7) and Bern and me--9 people.

We had a great time. It was even warm enough to get in the pool.

Good food, good wine and beer and great company.

Josh took me to church on Easter--12 minutes away--and it was a wondrous celebration! Organ and trumpet and solo for the music and I got lots of feed back on my sermon.

Being with kids and grandchildren on Easter is resurrection in itself.

Alleluia, Christ is Risen! He is Risen indeed, Alleluia!
