One down, one to go....

By a 6-3 vote the Supreme Court let the Affordable Care Act survive what would have surely left it in shreds today and left millions of people in Red States without health care. The only people more relieved that those in the White House were Republicans in congress who would have had to put the plans to replace Obamacare with something they don't have!

(I would replace it, along with Bernie Sanders, with a one payer National Health Care System (aka 'socialized medicine') which is what I truly believe in, but, never mind.

Tomorrow or Monday comes the ruling on same sex marriage. I'm actually pretty sure the Court will make same sex marriage the law of the land.

And what makes me, a left-wing activist, almost swallow my tongue! How did this happen so fast and so completely? A decade ago it would have been unthinkable.

It took a hundred years to even begin the yet incomplete civil rights movement of African-Americans and we still aren't anywhere near equal rights (and equal pay) for women. But the gay marriage thing has moved so rapidly that even supporters of it are amazed.

I need to ponder why that is so. I really can't begin to understand it yet.

About Me

some ponderings by an aging white man who is an Episcopal priest in Connecticut. Now retired but still working and still wondering what it all means...all of it.
